GATTACA

The Movie GATTACA was a piece of work to represent how Andrew Niccol predicts biotechnology would affect our future. Niccol foresee that in the future, scientists will start making up DNA, which allow them to re-arrange people genetic by switching our blood type. Once babies are born, they will send to the lab and be judged by the scientists to evaluate if he/she should be injected a different blood type. And furthermore, beside the scientists, there will be no one else can determine or have a 'right' to plan their own fate.

Niccol believes in the future, our life and the whole world would be dominated by science. Seems like the entire society is running along with high-technology, but it is sad that everything has been determined. Though these advance technology can help to solve a lot of problems and to improve our living environment, but it has over-dominated the nature, for example, DNA, our unique personal structure, which is changeable now- Our own identification are taken and 'fake'.

In my opinion, the idea of scientists are now capable to make up and fix our genetic, could be a good thing because if we are born along with innate genetic disorder, then by injecting a different healthy blood type, we don't have to suffer for the disorder later on. But in the meanwhile the disadvantage is technically, we are no longer blood-related with any members within our family as our parents' characteristics would be gone along with the injection of another blood type. Nowadays, people always question: "What is the meaning of life?" Most of the time people feel hopeless on their life because they can't find a goal, or they've been failing too many times. But wasn't keeping failing, trying and getting success are some typical meaning of our life?
If people cannot determine or control their future, what is the different between to live as a robot?
