I am 1,000 Years Old =]

Cambridge University geneticist Aubrey de Grey has famously stated, “The first person to live to be 1,000 years old is certainly alive today …whether they realize it or not, barring accidents and suicide, most people now 40 years or younger can expect to live for centuries.”

People always want to have a longer lifetime, they would do anything they can do in order to avoid death. Some people even pay vastly to ask the scientist to save their body and let them rebirth after death.
I sort of understand why people want to have a longer lifetime, some people asked for that because they feel like they missed too many in the early life, they make some mistakes, and they want to make it up; some people might want to hold on their power; some wants to finish their dream, etc. People are greedy, we have endless to do list, we have endless dream and desire. It is not an easy task to satisfy a person.

However, personally I do not really want to live forever, or to live for centuries. I would admitted that living for centuries sounds excited and pretty interesting, because I can have a chance to see how the world changes. But here is the problem, What if I have a really bad health after centuries? What if the world getting worse after centuries?

Even we only have 50 years lifetime but if we enjoy every second, and we had spend every minutes for doing the right things, then our life is valuable, and it is a very nice trip. However, if we spend all the days for doing nothing, committing crime, wasting time for bad thing, then even we have an endless lifetime, it means nothing.

Nevertheless, I think this article is trying to emphasized the well develop of health care, and medical services, in the future, human would deserved a longer lifetime.

WALL- E

I never watch the movie WALL-E, but the trailer impressed me and hooks me up. There are bunch of various versions trailers for the movie, and I was confused by some of them. Those trailer are presenting the robot, Wall-E was the only living thing that ever exist on the planet with piles of trash. As the background music is playing with a minor tone, I sort of assuming the movie WALL-E will be somehow a touching movie with a sadness story. However, there is another trailer presents another scene of the movie- Wall-E was brought to another world, where everyone was obese, and lived along with the hover chairs. Everyone lives in that planet looks the same, they drink the same drink, eat the same food, wear the same clothing, picking the same colour, and THEY NEVER MOVE!

In that society, seems like people do not have their own thinking, they do not need to do anything, even walk! There was a boy who fall from the chair because of Wall-E’s speeding, and once he fall on the floor, he didn’t attempt to stand up and go back to his seat, instead he just lay on the floor and wait until another robots come to pick him up. Another example to proof they do not have the ability to think is when the commercial suggesting pink is the best colour for that season, EVERY SINGLE ONE in the area just push a button on the chair, and turn themselves become pink! People who live in that society are lazy.

As the life in the 21st century, everyone are required to work hard for money, for life which impact people always imagine and wish to be lazy and just enjoy their life. This is why the movie WALL-E tried to film out a brand new environment and to emphasize the possible negative consequence for being lazy in order to alert the modern people to stay in reality.

Don't play victim to your smartphone

" If you're sick of your friend flicking around with his iPhone at dinner, tell him to shut the damn thing off and return to reality."

"Fear of new technology seems engrained in human nature, because it goes way back. In 1876, The New York Times made a bold prediction: The advent of the telephone would cause people to stop going to church."

"Thus the telephone, by bringing music and minister into every home, will empty the concert-halls and the churches," the newspaper claimed.

This piece of article explores the common habit of the modern people, such as to pull out their phones in a middle of a conversation which happens daily to many people.

People loves to take a look with their phone constantly, or go on facebook or twitter as if its their romantic partner, people explained they do that in every other minute because they wonder if someone else is texting them for help or if he missed the most updated status of his friends, etc.

In a study at the University of Kansas hundreds of students were asked about texting and driving. Out of the group 83% agreed that it was dangerous yet 93% admit they still do it. A psychology professor states that smart phones are an addictive experience that taps into our compulsive desire to be social.

In my opinion, it’s true that we do seem to over rely on our phones, with the texting, look for numbers in phone book, calling, taking picture for some significant moment, music, games, etc. Now phones can be used to go on the Internet, and people just spending more time with their phone, like checking email, updating their locations, reporting their daily activities to friends, to like or to comment on their friends, etc. It is true that smart-phone and any other kind of technological products helps us to stay closer with others but personally, I would prefer meeting my friends, communicating with other physically rather than get those done electronically.

FEED

The book Feed by M.T. Anderson was a description of a dystopian society where everyone was connected mentally through the ‘feed’. The ‘feed’ is a device that installed in people’s head, the ‘feed’ is useful- it provides everything, from educational to entertainment; from helping us to have an easy life to control our life. The ‘feed’ will BRING us EVERYTHING- the updated news, fashion index, movies, TV shows. The ‘feed’ will TEACH us EVERYTHING- it contains textbooks, dictionaries, encyclopedias, etc. For more, the ‘feed’ can also helps to transfer message between one another. In the other word, we are able to talk, to share with our friend ANYWHERE, ANYTIME. ‘Feed’ will always on, unless it is damaged or had been hacked.

Honestly, whenever I was suffered from homework, frustrated from studying, I wished I had a ‘feed’ badly. Though I believe the ‘feed’ can helps me to have an easy life, but seriously, I DO NOT want to have one to install in my mind forever, because I would rather to live along with my mind instead of being control by someone else.

Anderson expresses how does he feels the negative consequences of over-depending on technology through the novel, Feed. He explores the negative impact of technology, and how would technology harm our life. I believe Anderson is trying to give an advice to his audience that though technology can brings a lot of conveniences to our life, but we should learn to find a way to keep ourselves in the reality.

2012

People love to predict things. We believe soothsaying, especially on the issue of THE END OF THE WORLD.

According to the Bible, most of the believers point out that Jesus had already forecast how the world would be end. As the world had already experienced the Ice Age, the next challenge would be FIRE AGE. Though it might sounds too superficial and nor creditable, but people still believe in our world would end by fire. Recently, our global temperature are keep increasing; the atmosphere was recorded being thinner and thinner constantly; the melting rate of the ice layer in the two poles are speeding up, etc. All these reality data alerted people: our world's health is getting worse.
Well, obviously these kinds of natural data were affected by us. Though we begin to aware the health issue of the Earth, but in order to make more money, to remain the state of Industrialized, well developed etc. we just keep explore lands, over-use natural resources, and stuff like that.

We are selfish. This idea has well presented in the movie, 2012. In the movie, it films the environment changing, for example, how the melting ice layer issue affects the coastal area around the world. Although there were group of scientists noticed and report the problem to the authority, government did not take any action to warn their citizen; instead, they notice their own family, and the head of the country to get ready to leave.

It is a heart quake movie when you see all the scenes about how the world was destroyed, how does people died, and how does people killed others in order to save himself. But the movie, 2012 has reminded us that no matter how does our environment changed, we should not buried our kindness humanity.

The Rise of the planet of the Apes

HUMAN BEING IS THE BEST.
WE ARE THE STRONGEST.
WE ARE THE MOST INTELLIGENCE.
WE CAN DOMINATE THE WORLD.

People always believe we are the best, though we depend a lot on technology and foreseeing our future will be dominated by technology. In general, people believe technology is something that can help to improve our society, make our life getting better.

WE JUST ADMIRED THE TECHNOLOGY; WE GLORIFLY THE SMART SCIENTISTS, but we barely respect or thankful to any other kind of thing that exists.

This is interesting, but meanwhile, it is so ironic- Technology is something that has no life, it is just something that created by us, it cannot reproduce its offspring, it cannot growth by themselves. IT HAS NO LIFE! Monkeys, white rats, pigs, Apes, dolphins, etc, any other types of LIVING THINGS that helps to develop our technology were barely credited.

In the movie, The Rise of the Planet of the Apes points out that though Apes are ANIMALS but they do have life, they had emotions, they had their own feelings; they are not just something that can be used by us for no reason. They deserve the right to say NO! Well, although the scene of Fight between human and Apes are mostly not going to happen in reality, but I believe the INEQUALITY treatment that created by us would eventually throwing back to all of us.

Future War

Most of the battles, and wars we studied through History classes suggested that attitude among the soldiers, the tactic of the generals, and in some cases- wealth, are the significant factors that would determined the result of the fight. And along with the progressing society, we can tell that all those factors that had mention are keep changing and developing in order to be advanced.

Comparing the modern well known warfare and the antiquated warfare, it is obvious to notice that the significant factors that were suggested via the history textbooks seem slightly outdated. Back into late 1700s, during the French Revolution, soldiers were using muskets, pistols, swords, and daggers. Roughly after 200 years, in World War I, instead of muskets and swords, soldiers were using bayonets, flamethrowers, grenades, machine guns, poison gas, rifles, tanks, and trench mortars. Weapons that were used are much more powerful and handy.

By pointing out the different of the weapons seems like I am suggesting that weapons are the sticking point for victory. Well, yes, I do agree the modern warfare are more likely to depend on the weapons and of course their universal position. And for more, I believe technology would take an extremely important role within any battles. Take a look with the World War II, that bloody warfare was ended by the atomic bombs. And lately, lots of countries begin to pay attention to South Korea, where the President always declared and emphasized their successful development of nucleus weapons. From all these cases, we can see that technology is involving into the warfare, this is why I can imagine in the future, human will no longer been asked to be soldiers, because robots will replace us.

In the video clip that shown above, we can see that though that is a video game trailer, but producers are suggesting the possible for robot being the future soldiers. Obviously, the idea of let the robots to replace human soldier cannot be work very soon, but I believe this is what going to happen in the future battle fields.

The future of religion in America

People tend to believe in god and try to be part of any kind of organized religions because they want to be protected. Followers of a religion would spread around how great their god was, they would tell stories about how their god create the world, how their god help everyone, how powerful he/she is, etc. Though stories from different religion are absolutely different, but honestly, it is not a problem!! It does not matter who create the world, if we can rest in peace in the heaven with Jesus, (any other God) after death, or if God can really control our faith, since personally I see religion and belief as a type of spirit repose.
People believe if they pray constantly or being an obedient worshiper, God would forgive their mistakes, would bless them to go through any difficulties, and would protect them during disasters. These beliefs actually can help people to release their stress and pressure. It can a be a good thing that hook people up with a positive living attitude as they believe God is always right next to them. HOWEVER, I can't refuse to admit that numbers of people were affected by their religion negatively, for instance, some of them would use the belief of forgiveness as an excuse to escape from the reality; when they failed, when they fall, they would pass the buck to the God, they sees the failure as a punishment from their God, and further more they considered it is better to go along with the failure instead of improving or attempt to change because they do not want to anger the God.

Unfortunately, along the rapidly changing environment, RELIGION TEND TO BE INVOLVED WITH POLITICAL ISSUE other than just being our spirit repose. And recently we can tell battles were always declared because of conflicts between religions. I believe if people no longer attempt to drag religion out of the political pool, people will soon to quit their belief because they see their religion is turning to be factor that mess between countries, and divide people which basically AN OPPOSITE POLE for being part of that religion. Such of a phenomenon was noticed by some political scientists as well, for example, Robert Putnam, an American political scientist states that, " Historically, about 5% of people identified as having no religion at all, Among young people, that figure is now 30%, it is a huge increase... That rapid increase in the number of young Americans who are dissatisfied with religion portends a drop in American religiosity over the years ahead. A growing of young people today are saying, 'Look, if religion is just about conservative politics and homophobia and so on. I'm out of here. That's not for me."

Fahrenheit 451

In the book Fahrenheit 451, author Ray Bradbury expresses his imagine of the future society. In Bradbury's imagination, we can tell that Bradbury believes the government is going to dominate their citizen by authority and power. In the society which created by Bradbury, books are prohibited. Fire is setting up by firemen to burn books instead of to put out a fire. Government pay a great effort to prevent their citizen become intelligent, government worries if people becoming smart, they will question and judge which might eventually led a revolt. The government attempt to edify its people that books are weapons, books is evils. In school, student will only be taught what the government wants them to know. Students spend most of the time for playing sport, relaxing, or watching TV shows and movie clips. To ensure the public would obey the law and the idea of books are evil. The government also releases some cases to show their people that arrested and death are the consequences for disobey.

This is why throughout the book it is obvious to notice that most of the people within the society are conformity. Most of them will not question, they will not think, they will not care or pay attention to anyone else. Though people were physically living along with their family, but they are actually living individually- they are all addicted with the family that exist on the soap opera that play on the TV-wall.

Bradbury suggests government is getting intense to control the people. Government is blind for power. Bradbury creates the character, Montag (- the rebel fireman who tries to enlighten people that books are good, and attempt to bring books back to the society.) to present that the coercion of any authority might help to obtain a peace among its region's surface area, but ITS INNER PART IS POSSIBLE TO BE A SUBVERSION WORLD!

Avatar

Nowadays when people were asked how they forecast the future, the idea of 'technology dominates our life' is one the common responses. Unlike with the major group of the public, James Cameron written the story, Avatar and turned it to be a movie. Cameron expressed his forecast of future by creating a new environment- Pandora, a society where full of sufficient valuable natural resources, wild animals and nature beauty. Though the Navi, people who inhabited in Pandora do have humanoid race, they looks different with people in the 21st century, their skin colour is blue, they all tall and all have a tail and they have their unique language, culture, beliefs. Although the Navi are so offensive to foreigners who tries to explore, to learn and to help their world, but within the Navi region, they love each other, they respect to their Shaikh and they are really solidarity to fight for their homeland.

In the 2011 world, everywhere is polluted, human's selfishness destroyed the nature, people over used most of the natural resources, and pull down the habitats of wild animals. All these antions caused Cameron believes our planet- Earth is going to decline, which is why he forecasts the next generation is living in another planet- Pandora.

I feel like the creation of Avatar represented how much Cameron desire and dream badly for an Utopia world, as he notices the current living environment is going to a downfull due to the selfishness human. In my opinion, it is really nice to have a harmony neighbourhood like Pandora and I am pretty excited to have a life right there because I am sick of how people becoming cold-blooded and being blind for making money. But somehow, I see part of the idea of this film production as a sad new since I believe the creation of Utopis society in Avatar is also presenting how people are hopeless and depress to their current life.

GATTACA

The Movie GATTACA was a piece of work to represent how Andrew Niccol predicts biotechnology would affect our future. Niccol foresee that in the future, scientists will start making up DNA, which allow them to re-arrange people genetic by switching our blood type. Once babies are born, they will send to the lab and be judged by the scientists to evaluate if he/she should be injected a different blood type. And furthermore, beside the scientists, there will be no one else can determine or have a 'right' to plan their own fate.

Niccol believes in the future, our life and the whole world would be dominated by science. Seems like the entire society is running along with high-technology, but it is sad that everything has been determined. Though these advance technology can help to solve a lot of problems and to improve our living environment, but it has over-dominated the nature, for example, DNA, our unique personal structure, which is changeable now- Our own identification are taken and 'fake'.

In my opinion, the idea of scientists are now capable to make up and fix our genetic, could be a good thing because if we are born along with innate genetic disorder, then by injecting a different healthy blood type, we don't have to suffer for the disorder later on. But in the meanwhile the disadvantage is technically, we are no longer blood-related with any members within our family as our parents' characteristics would be gone along with the injection of another blood type. Nowadays, people always question: "What is the meaning of life?" Most of the time people feel hopeless on their life because they can't find a goal, or they've been failing too many times. But wasn't keeping failing, trying and getting success are some typical meaning of our life?
If people cannot determine or control their future, what is the different between to live as a robot?
