Growing up with a different environment, Violet's father sees the change of the society, in order to get her daughter a normal life, Violet's father only teaches Violet to think individual during her childhood. As long as Violet grow up, her father allows her to live with the feed, so that Violet is able to be conformity with the rest of the society. In the beginning, Violet was still able to think by her own brain instead of bias with the feed. But as time goes by, Violet soon to lost the ability to think by herself, to ask by curiosity, or to learn by observation. Her father was worried if Violet's life would become a robot as everyone else, therefore he attempt to teach Violet although it is difficult, well nearly impossible to teach Violet while her feed is on. Violet's father tried to alert Violet how did she learn before, how was her life looked like before she has the feed on, but it just seems useless.
I was impress by this quote, because I sees the actual scene of Violet's father's point of view. In the 21st centuries, our life is too easy, way too convenience. Most of the modern people had already forgot the word 'valuable' or 'treasure'. Everything we have are easy to have, although people will upset once they lost it, they found it is easy to find another replacement. People no longer to ask WHERE DID IT CAME FROM? We easily assume everything could 'last forever', though it cannot physically present forever, we can use technology to mock another substitution. I wonder in our future, most of the thing would become clone, which makes our society become 'monotony'.
